Models of diplomacy: DANIEL TAUB

Daniel Taub, a former Israeli ambassador to UK, was born in Britain in 1962. He went to Harvard University and the University College Oxford in London. He later migrated to Israel in 1989 and worked for President Chaim Herzog as a speechwriter.

He also served in the Israeli Defense Forces as a Combat Medic and later worked in the IDF’s division of international law as a reserve officer.

In 1991, Mr. Taub joined the Israel Foreign Ministry. Due to his expertise in international law, laws of war and counter-terrorism, he held different posts politically, diplomatically as well as legally. He also represented Israel in many negotiations such as the Israeli-Palestinian peace process where he was a negotiator.

He also represented Israel in the United Nations in different interventions such as when he negotiated the inclusion of the Israeli Red Cross Society into the International Red Cross Movement as well as the Gaza Flotilla incident.

Daniel Taub was named the Israeli Ambassador to the United Kingdom in 2011 where he served till 2015. During his ambassadorship, he worked to help Israeli community both in Israel and in the UK, he worked to help Israeli community both in Israel and in the UK, and to business and trade relations between the two countries.

This competition led him to be nominated for the Grassroot Diplomatic Initiative Award. Trade between UK and Israel is said to have doubled between 2011 and 2015.

Daniel Taub was the second Israeli born in Britain to serve as an ambassador there.

He met the Queen in 2011, and when he presented his credentials, the queen wanted to know how it felt like to serve as an ambassador in the land of his birth.

He stated that he was proud to raise his family in Israel but was deeply appreciative of the opportunity it gave his parents and grandparents and said that he hoped to show his through deepening the bond between the two countries. In addition to that, he is a father of six as well as a Manchester City fan.
